Season Six
When Clark Kent asked how Oliver Queen and Arthur Curry met, Arthur told Clark about how Oliver saved him, when Arthur got into trouble trying to sink a whaler in Japan.[4]
Season Eleven
Superman went to Japan to save the passengers onboard a bullet train.[1]
During the "Crisis" and the Monitor attack on Earth, Tokyo was deconstructed and collected by the Monitors. After the Monitors were defeated by the Justice League, Tokyo was restored.[2]
Notes
- It is never established whether Oliver Queen was in Japan on business relating to Queen Industries, or to shut down a 33.1 facility. Prior to the events of the episode Justice, Oliver's team is said to have destroyed six 33.1 facilities, located in different places (the most recent one hit being in Mexico). It is unknown, but possible, if one of the first five destroyed was in Japan. If there was a 33.1 facility in Japan, it would be evidence that there are metahumans in the country.[4]
- According to a Daily Planet article in the Season Ten episode Shield, Lois Lane lived in Japan, when her father became U.S. Commander of the Pacific in the 1990s.[3]
Trivia
- Actor Hiro Kanagawa, who played Principal James Kwan in Season One was born in Japan.
In the Comics
There are many DC Comics characters in Japan. One of the most notable is Kimiyo Hoshi, who is the superheroic version of Doctor Light, and joins the Justice League. In the comics, Hoshi is an astronomer who acquired her metahuman abilities, while studying the unnatural effects of the event known as "Crisis on Infinite Earths".
Another Japanese superhero is Sonia Sato, the third Judomaster, who joins the Justice Society of America.
A third Japanese superhero is Toshio Eto (Samurai), a character originally created for the Super Friends animated TV series in the 1977 (together with a few other new characters, created in an effort to add more diversity to the show's superheroes), and was later adapted into the mainstream DC universe.
Japan also has its own version of the Justice League: Big Science Action. The team consists of Japanese superheroes Senior Waveman Kimura, Boss Bishonen, Cosmo Racer, Hammersuit Zero-X, Nazo Baluda, Ultimon, Boss Bosozuko, Goraiko, and Rising Sun.
Another Japanese superhero team is the Super Young Team. The team consists of Most Excellent Super Bat, Big Atomic Lantern Boy, Crazy Shy Lolita Canary, Shiny Happy Aquazon, and Well-Spoken Sonic Lightning Flash.
There are also several Japanese supervillains, several of whom are linked to the World War II era, like Sumo the Samurai, Kamikaze, and Kung. In Justice Society of America Vol 3 #27 (July, 2009), Kung was established to have been killed in Hiroshima when the United States dropped an atomic bomb on the city.
